Origin:  Borderlands 2 (Captain Scarlett and Her Pirate's Booty DLC)

When we were brainstorming for which characters we wanted to wear to the various Borderlands meet-ups we were trying to figure out what Josh would wear for the bunny hutch party.  After thinking about it for a while, Shade's Hunter S. Thompson vibe fit well as a creepy Hugh Hefner, so we decided to put together that costume.  We also realized it would work well for the pool party, so we also decided on a pool party variant.  At that point we had almost all of the pieces to make an actual Shade costume.  Since we were going to be marching in the Dragon Con parade again, Josh figured he could wear Shade for that instead of his previous plan of Johnny Springs, since Shade comes with a sun hat, sunglasses, shorts and flip flops - perfect for staying cool in that Atlanta heat.  With that decided we threw together a complete Shade costume and Josh proceeded to creep everyone out.
