Wrote up a quick tutorial/technique guide to making a new bone (say, I dunno, a canid's jawbone :P ) look old or fossilized. I used this technique for my own prop jawbone for my Lady Solas cosplay after much searching on leatherworking forums (it's apparently a technique used by knife makers who use bone for the handle a lot). It was pretty easy and actually cheaper/faster than sculpting it and painting it. I already had most of the supplies (leather stain, applicators, varnish, etc) since we do a lot of leather working projects.
Got a question you've been dying to ask us but are too shy to? Or just haven't gotten a chance to? We started an ask.fm profile so you can ask everything you've ever wanted to about us (within reason obviously) and our costuming/cosplay! You can also always ask anonymously if you're shy!

Hello! Some of you might be arriving here because of our Gaslight Batman costume that was donated to Turbine. Well, because I'm a developer on Infinite Crisis (and because the character design for the game is so incredible) we've done a lot of other Infinite Crisis cosplay! You can check out Atomic Wonder Woman, Gaslight Catwoman, and Nightmare Superman. We've also created a commission of Arcane Green Lantern. We've designed our own variants of Hawkman and Hawkgirl (our personal favorites) in both Atomic (Hawkman/Hawkgirl) and Gaslight (Hawkman/Hawkgirl) flavors. And, right now, we're in progress on Atomic Green Lantern and Arcane Zatanna for PAX East. So follow us on Facebook to stay up to date on our latest IC cosplay, not to mention all of the other stuff we do!
As a Christmas gift for my brother-in-law Fenix asked if I would be up for building him Mjolnir, since he's a big Thor fan. "Why not?" I thought. "It's just a simple hammer." Hammer, yes. Simple? No.
Welcome to Cool By Proxy Productions! We're a couple in and out of cosplay that makes incredible costumes and props in our free time.
