Gaslight Batman - Power Pack
Posted by Josh at 1:24 pm on September 10, 2013 @Alpha_Rho_Rho

This tutorial is where I'm going to talk about how I made the power pack for Gaslight Batman as based on Infinite Crisis.  Note that I went off of the revamped Gaslight Batman which, at the time of this writing, hasn't actually been released in game yet; the current version doesn't have this power pack, so you won't be able to find any reference yet.

Hello everyone!  First off, if you're new to the site - welcome!  More frequent updates can be found on our Facebook page, but this is where you can find the more substantial stuff.  Such as the new Chainsaw Tutorial I wrote describing how I went about creating the monstrous chainsaw for Atomic Wonder Woman!  Enjoy!

Atomic Wonder Woman - Chainsaw

This tutorial will cover how I made the chainsaw for Fenix's Atomic Wonder Woman costume.  Note that I based my design off of the in-game wallpaper/character select screen version of the chainsaw.  (You can see this version on the Infinite Crisis website here.)  This is different from the other cosplayers who tend to base their designs on the statuette.  The major difference is the size of the chainsaw and the giant teeth on the blade.

New Character Page

My project for the past several days has been updating the website to make it easier to find and create content.  To that end I've gotten rid of the portfolio page and replaced it with a characters page.  This page highlights all of the different characters Fenix and I have cosplayed over the years, complete with where the character is from, where we debuted the costume, links to tutorials on that characters and the pictures of that character.  The events page now links you to the corresponding character page as well, so that you'll always know exactly who we're talking about.

If anyone has any recommendations for other changes to the site drop us a line!

Maya Build 2013
Posted by Josh at 4:04 pm on April 4, 2013 @Alpha_Rho_Rho

By Fenix McKenna, for Maya

Making The Suit:

Materials:

Italian Nylon Lycra (http://seattlefabrics.com/stretch.html#Italian Nylon Lycra) color: Spanish Gold*; Under Armor Heat Gear (graphite & black, http://www.rockywoods.com/Fabrics-Kits/Under-Armour-HeatGear) , Stretchy mesh fabric (black)

*I originally wanted to use ALL under armor for this build, but rockywoods was out of stock of the gold when we went to order. The Italian Nylon Lycra was fine (it had a nice weight and color) but did start to pill after a little bit of wear. The under armor that I did use (the matte black and the grey), did not- so if you can get hold of all under armor, I would recommend that instead.

Cheapo spandex in a light color (white/nude/etc)- got mine at Joann's
various notions (zipper, thread, elastic, etc): Joann Fabrics
bodysuit pattern (I used KwikSew's unitard pattern - http://amzn.com/B000KS9CX8)

recommended equipment: A Serger (or experience working with stretchy fabric, but seriously, a serger will make your life so much easier. If you don't have a serger, I highly recommend using a stretchy thread)
